- Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy.
- He believed that the trip was going to be 2,400 miles west, but there was really 10,000 miles between Europe and Asia.
- Christopher first went to King John for financial support, but after nine months of waitng he was told "No Thankyou" from the king.
- At first, Queen Isabella thought the price was too high for the expidition, it took her six months to agree! Christopher had already given up and was already four miles out on his route when the couier of the queen cought up with him.
